On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Innovative Companies Incubator of Politecnico di Torino (I3P) and the Milan-based start-up This Unique presented the newly signed agreement to improve the well-being of all women attending the incubator's premises.
Both the supported startuppers and the staff of I3P will in fact have access to free tampon dispensers, which will soon be installed in the incubator's headquarters, as was already the case a few months ago in the spaces of Politecnico di Torino. This is a gesture intended to solve a common daily need, increasing the inclusiveness of an environment in which each person can feel supported to the fullest.
An inclusive and sustainable choice
This Unique's product range for period care is made in Italy and entirely from organic cotton: no synthetic chemicals are used in the course of its production, only natural products, in order to better safeguard personal health.
This makes the pads not only hypoallergenic but also biodegradable and compostable; thus, it is a strongly sustainability-oriented choice. It has been calculated that by using 1,000 This Unique pads instead of traditional ones, one can save the equivalent of 400 plastic bags, 54,600 liters of water and 14 kilograms of CO2.
For the young innovative companies based at I3P, but also for the incubator itself, these benefits can translate into added value in the Talent Acquisition & Retention strategy: the free availability of This Unique's products will be able to increase team satisfaction, improve corporate reputation, and be an extra benefit to offer in the recruitment phases of new staffing.
A growing and expanding start-up
This Unique has experienced significant growth in recent months, establishing itself as a benchmark in free access to menstrual products. Thanks to its efforts, more than 90,000 people can now take advantage of these products for free, contributing to a concrete change in the management of menstrual well-being.
This Unique operates on two main fronts:
- B2B, working with businesses and organizations to improve workplaces by attending to the needs of the entire corporate population, ensuring the availability of menstrual products in workplaces and other public spaces.
- B2C, offering various menstrual wellness products on a monthly subscription basis.
Starting with a team of four co-founders, the start-up is rapidly evolving - by June 2025 it will consist of 10 people - and expanding its presence in the European market, working with several international clients. In total, at the end of February 2024 there were about 60 corporate clients of This Unique's solutions, while today, after only one year, the number has risen to 200, including companies with more than 4,000 employees. Financially, This Unique is also performing very well with current €600,000 in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and a target approaching €1 million.
