Enerbrain, a company that joined Politecnico di Torino's Incubator in 2016, won the second edition of B Heroes, a mentorship course for companies with a high innovation content that has become a television format in the form of a start-up competition. The Turin-based company, which in addition to its headquarters in Turin also has an office in Tokyo, Japan, won the €500,000 first prize.
Enerbrain has patented a dynamic regulation system for HVAC (heating, cooling and ventilation) systems that improves room comfort, reduces air conditioning consumption and thus CO2 emissions. The Enerbrain system adapts to any type of HVAC system and the installation does not require any modifications to the systems, but simplifies maintenance and extends their lifespan.
The company had already aroused the market's interest and collected awards: in 2017 Iren elected them the best Italian start-up, while in 2018 they won the EIT Digital Challenge, the main pitch competition for start-ups that want to expand in Europe. In 2019, again Iren, one of Italy's leading multi-utility companies, chose the start-up to transform 89 buildings of the City of Turin into smart buildings, avoiding the emission of 1,400 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to 100,000 trees, into the atmosphere.
The victory in the start-up competition B Heroes is in fact only the latest recognition for a company born in I3P.
Less than a month ago, Omnidermal Biomedics won the Leonardo Startup Prize. The biomedical start-up has developed a device that enables the assessment of skin ulcers, generates diagnoses and ensures constant follow-up thanks to artificial intelligence, while at the beginning of March, the Premio dei Premi del Senato della Repubblica was awarded to Ermes Cybersecurity, a start-up committed to defending privacy and combating the dangers posed by web trackers.
