Enerbrain will transform 89 buildings in Turin into smart buildings with Iren

Startup

I3P start-up Enerbrain won the 1st Prize at the EIT Digital Challenge in the Digital Industry category and joined the EIT Digital Accelerator.

Iren, one of the largest multi-utility companies in Italy, chose Enerbrain to convert 89 buildings in the City of Turin into smart buildings, reducing CO2 emissions by 1,400 tonnes - equivalent to the quantity which would need to be absorbed by 100,000 trees.

In October, Enerbrain won first prize at the EIT Digital Challenge, the leading pitch competition for European start-ups looking to accelerate their growth in Europe. The start-up was recognised for its IoT technology that makes energy consumption more efficient and improves the comfort of buildings without the need to change any of their existing systems. The IoT solution developed by Enerbrain measures comfort and air quality parameters - e.g. humidity, temperature, CO2 and pollutants - and optimises them in real time.

The agreement between Enerbrain and Iren will save the citizens of Turin from 1,400 tonnes of CO2: this is equivalent to adding 100,000 trees in the city's ecosystem, the equivalent of 50 parks the size of Parco del Valentino in Turin.

Iren, which had already acclaimed Enerbrain as the best Italian start-up back in 2017, has now chosen the company to accelerate the optimisation of existing HVAC systems (heating, ventilation and cooling) without having to replace them.

Enerbrain's solution maintains unified management and data consultation through an analytical dashboard, which is also accessible from smartphones and tablets.

"For us, this partnership is a major milestone but also a new starting point," says Giuseppe Giordano, Founder & CEO of Enerbrain. "Iren was the first multi-utility to confirm that we are on the right track and today's agreement crowns a collaboration that began practically from day one of our journey."
