CTE NEXT, the House of Emerging Technologies in Turin, continues its activities to support innovation, always with the aim of transforming the city into a center of widespread technology transfer on emerging technologies in sectors identified as strategic for the territory of Turin: smart mobility, industry 4.0 and innovative urban services.
After the conclusion of the first Call4Testing, this month saw the launch of two new initiatives dedicated to companies: the Call4Acceleration 5G & Emerging Tech, the first acceleration program of CTE NEXT to encourage the growth of start-ups, and the Call4Challenge @PoliTO, aimed at companies to propose the challenges of the Open Innovation program of Politecnico di Torino.
Call4Acceleration: 5G & Emerging Tech
The City of Turin, together with its technical partner Digital Magics, has opened applications for its first acceleration program aimed at identifying and accelerating start-ups intent on developing, through 5G and at least one of the emerging technologies (IoT, Blockchain, AI), innovative technological solutions, models and products in one of the following areas: Smart Road, Urban Air Mobility, Industry 4.0, Innovative Urban Service.
The objective is to encourage the growth of the selected young companies, through support actions aimed at the development of the business model, providing them with coaching and training on issues such as market analysis, customer discovery, value proposition, lean start-up, scientific approach, market and offer validation.
The program is structured in two phases, Idea Development and Project Validation, each lasting two months. At the end of the path, startups will have the opportunity to participate in the Pitch Day, the final event during which they will be able to meet investors, companies, mentors and press officers. In addition to the acquisition of many useful skills, participants in the call will also be able to benefit from a contribution of €15,000 for the selected projects, equal to a maximum of 80% reimbursement for expenses incurred in participating in the program.
You can apply until 12:00 am on Monday, May 16, 2022, by filling out the appropriate form on the official page of the call and sending the necessary documents completed. For further information or clarifications, you can write to the email address ctenext@comune.torino.it.
Call4Challenge @PoliTO
This is a CTE NEXT program to select SMEs from all over the country interested in proposing challenges on innovation topics. Companies will be given the opportunity to launch challenges to Master's degree students of Politecnico di Torino, who will have 14 weeks to solve them in a path of innovative teaching, proposing solutions based on emerging technologies (IoT, AI and Blockchain) and enabled by 5G.
On each challenge will work about 30 students with different backgrounds (Engineering, Architecture, Design, Planning), gathered in multidisciplinary teams, to find and develop solutions, both from a technical and business point of view, under the supervision of teachers, mentors and professionals. With the Open Innovation programs for SMEs, whose activities will take place in the period March-June 2023, CTE NEXT intends to offer companies the opportunity to meet and interact with young innovators, who will put into practice what they learned in the classroom through the "learning by doing" method, developing innovative proposals to be applied in business realities.
Challenges should address one or more of CTE NEXT's strategic areas:
- Smart Road: innovative solutions for the development of advanced, safe and intelligent mobility: connected vehicles, V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communications, integration with mobility scenarios, algorithms for autonomous driving.
- Urban Air Mobility: innovative solutions for the use of aerial platforms to support a sustainable and safe mobility of goods and people, from monitoring and control applications to their integration as means of transport.
- Industry 4.0: innovative solutions to connect machines, objects, resources and people in the production environment and along the company's supply chain, to improve effectiveness and efficiency in production and in supplier-customer relations.
- Urban Services: innovative solutions for public administration: service delivery, management of resources and of public goods and spaces, territorial valorization and business development thanks to the collaboration between public and private sector.
For this call, it is possible to apply until 19:00 on Friday, May 20, 2022, by filling out the form on the official page of the call and sending the necessary documents completed. Proposals submitted by clusters of companies (maximum number of 3 companies) sharing a common challenge will be admitted: each company can propose only one challenge and/or participate in only one cluster. The results of the selection will be announced by the end of May.
