On October 23, the 16th edition of Imprenditori di Domani competition came to a close with the Start Cup Award Ceremony, held for the first time in live streaming.
New projects and start-ups from various fields won the total prize of 60 000 euros.
U-Care Medical, a start-up supported by I3P, came in first place. U-Care won the award thanks to its project aimed at producing and selling hardware and software for predictive diagnosis of acute renal failure.
ALBA Robot, a start-up which pre-incubated at I3P since 2020, came second thanks to its project for developing a robotic platform to make wheelchairs smarter and self-driving. The start-up also won the Special Mention "Social Innovation".
DDC Drug Discovery development and Clinics, a start-up incubated at 2i3T, came in third place. The start-up is developing a new drug for the treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), which can also be employed for Covid-19 cases and new pandemic scenarios.
In fourth place ex aequo came Nanoremediation 4.0, with its innovative method for the remediation of contaminated groundwater, Health Triage, with its AI-based IT tools to support clinical decision-making and reduce reporting time and costs, both supported by I3P, and Inferendo, an Enne3 start-up that developed a system to predict the behaviour of users on e-commerce sites in order to propose to customers products they are interested in. The latter also won the "Open Innovation/industrial spin-off" mention.
These projects are also the six PNI Finalists who will have the opportunity to compete in the PNI - National Innovation Award 2020 to be held on November 30th and December 4th, 2020.
Among the prizes awarded during the Award Ceremony were also those offered by the Start Cup Piemonte Valle d'Aosta 2020 sponsors:
- Valle d'Aosta Award, offered by the Regione Autonoma Valle d'Aosta, to Le-gowall, which developed an integration to make heating and cooling systems more efficient.
- Cuneo Award, awarded by the CRC Foundation, to Horizon, for its idea to manage vineyards through AI algorithms.
- Metroconsult Award, to PipeIn, with its technological solution that reduces the time needed to locate leaks along industrial networks, and to Sunspeker, with its solar advertising totem that self-generates clean energy and integrates connectivity.
- CLAB Turin Award, offered by Torino Contamination Lab, went to Mechané, which proposes a software to simplify the bureaucracy in healthcare by prioritising the patient.
- Covid-19, Award, awarded by Regione Piemonte, went to Intravides, incubated at 2i3T, with its AR software solution to support surgeons and allow remote participation in surgery.
Finally, the Special Mention "Equal Opportunities" went to Cocooners, which intends to develop a platform for content, products, and services for people over the age of fifty-five.
