Far from being a mere pastime, videogames represent an industry in which creativity, technology and innovation are deeply intertwined, offering real opportunities in business as well. A booming industry confirms this: in 2024, the global video game market generated more than $180 billion, according to some industry studies, with an annual growth rate of +2.1%.
As both gamers and startuppers know well, playing games - as well as doing business - requires dedication, ingenuity and a clear vision of the goals to reach. Building on this deep affinity comes “Startup Your Game!”, the event scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 5 p.m. in attendance in the Agorà Hall of the Incubator of Politecnico di Torino (I3P), during which the connections between the worlds of gaming and innovative entrepreneurship will be explored.
At the center of the meeting, realized with the support of Regione Piemonte through the resources of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), will be the story of four companies grown with the support of I3P, operating in different fields but sharing the same origin: a genuine passion for video games, developed in an entrepreneurial key. Tiny Bull Studios, Proxy42, Paperbox Health and Triality Studio will bring to the stage their experiences, including immersive technologies, augmented reality, digital health and cultural heritage enhancement, sharing how their projects were born, what challenges they have faced and what prospects they see in the future of the videogame industry. It will also be an opportunity to meet IIDEA, the Italian trade association of the industry in Italy, whose mission is to enhance the role of videogames in the country's economy, society and culture.
The event will be introduced by Paola Mogliotti, Director of I3P, and led by Ludovico Del Carretto, Business Consultant at the incubator, for a journey through the evolution of an entrepreneurial ecosystem increasingly attentive to the contaminations between gaming and innovation. The meeting will include a speech by Davide Mancini, Developer Relations Manager at IIDEA, who will present a current overview of the video game industry in Italy.
I3P's initiative will be an opportunity to discover how gaming can become a lever of transformation, generating entrepreneurial ideas with high added value. It will discuss how a gaming start-up is born, emerging technologies such as augmented reality and VR, interactive storytelling and how entertainment can also have a social, educational and cultural impact.
“This event represents a meeting point between two worlds that talk to each other more than we can imagine,” explains Giuseppe Scellato, President of I3P. “Gaming, like business, requires vision, courage and the ability to evolve. Giving voice to these experiences also means inspiring new generations of entrepreneurs starting from what they are most passionate about: an example of this are the innovative realities guests at the meeting, who will offer everyone their direct testimony.”
The event, which will be held in Italian language, is free to attend, subject to registration on Eventbrite while places are available.
