CTE Next, the House of Emerging Technologies of Turin, is expanding opportunities for companies interested in developing 5G solutions in the mobility sector by promoting the Open Call of the 5G-IANA project, part of the Horizon 2020 project, through the technical partner LINKS Foundation.

The 5G-IANA (5G Intelligent Automotive Network Applications) project will enable companies to develop, deploy and test their services. An open automotive experimental platform (AOEP) will be enabled as a set of hardware and software resources providing the computing and communication/transport infrastructure, as well as the management and orchestration components, coupled with an advanced Network Applications Toolkit tailored for the automotive sector.

5G-IANA will provide experimenters with secure and standardised APIs to facilitate all the different steps towards the production of a new service. The project will focus on different virtualisation technologies integrating different Management and Orchestration (MANO) frameworks to enable the deployment of end-to-end network services in different domains (vehicles, road infrastructure, MEC nodes and cloud resources).

The opportunities of the call

5G IANA is looking for European SMEs and start-ups interested in applying to the second Open Call that will allow companies to conduct mobility experiments on the platform provided by the 5G-IANA project, using 5G connectivity. The call is aimed at SMEs and start-ups working in any mobility-related sector (automotive, industry 4.0, aviation, robotics, etc.).

The objective of the call, which offers a mentorship programme, is to help companies build and implement their own experiments and position themselves in the 5G ecosystem. Mentors will guide selected companies through design, development, deployment and testing services on the 5G-IANA platform.

A maximum of five companies will be eligible for funding of €20,000 each.

Applications are already open and will be awarded on a "first come, first served" basis, so the programme will run on an ongoing basis for selected SMEs and start-ups from the moment their application is accepted. The Open Call will be underway, based on the completion of all experiments, until October 2024.

For more information on how to apply, companies are invited to read the official guidelines and view the recording of the webinar held on March 19, 2024, available on the project's YouTube channel. Its is also possible to request more information by writing to the project e-mail address open-call@5g-iana.eu.
