U-Care Medical is a medtech start-up developing an AI-based medical platform to predict and prevent Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) episodes in hospitalized patients. Every year AKI attacks up to 13.3M hospitalized patients globally and 30% of those within Intensive Care Units, causing 1.7M deaths and 30B$ in healthcare expenditures. Combining an innovative urine output (UO) sensor with AI algorithms able to process both UO data and patient’s routinely-collected biochemical parameters, U-Care platform predicts an AKI episode more than 24 hours before its onset enabling prevention of AKI via early diagnosis and dramatically cuts healthcare expenses due to AKI.
