The Incubator of Politecnico di Torino has given itself a makeover, just in time for its 20th anniversary.
A bit of history
I3P has
been promoting the birth of technology-based innovative companies with high
growth potential since 1999, the year of its foundation. In 2011, I3P launched
Treatabit, a pre-incubation programme dedicated to digital projects aimed at
the consumer market, with the objective of creating a programme capable of
supporting start-ups even in the delicate initial "bootstrap" phase,
in order to gather the first significant metrics to implement the project. The
experiment was successful, and the numbers prove it. Today, Treatabit has been
fully absorbed into the range of services offered by I3P in the form of
pre-incubation and no longer needs to be considered a separate project and
brand. In 2014, I3P was ranked 5th in Europe and 15th in the world in the UBI
Index ranking, considered to be the leader in analysing the performance of
business incubators worldwide. Currently, I3P is the leading university
incubator in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.
A restyling and a new brand identity
At the end of the 20th year of I3P, we opted for significant changes in terms of brand graphics, identifying a new colour palette, a new font, a new claim, and of course a new logo and a new website, to better reflect the Incubator's vision and the goals it has set for itself. The keywords are: transparency, dynamism, solidity, freshness and immediacy.
What has changed
A new website
Leaner, more direct, more balanced. The new website reflects the desire to make the world of innovation easier and more accessible for everyone. The header features a browsing menu that immediately highlights the most important things: about us, who is collaborating in our network, who are our start-ups, how to join us and much more. The home page shows what is happening right now in our community - the achievements of our companies, events for our network, news on innovation and business, our numbers. The footer houses all the navigation sections of the website, for those who want to learn more about everything we can do and already do for those with a business idea. The 'APPLY' section - dedicated to applications - is always available, just a click away. The new I3P site is waiting to be discovered, enjoy browsing!
A new logo
We have tried to redesign our new logo based on input from those who know us best: our community. In the new logo, we prioritise readability, styling and, in general, a more modern and dynamic silhouette, reflecting the soul of Politecnico di Torino Incubator. The kangaroo - the irreplaceable mascot of I3P - for us represents in the most appropriate way a metaphor for support and growth, assisted at every stage, just as we do with the incubated start-ups, and this time it is re-proposed in a more stylised version and with a bright, sharp, new and strongly characterising colour.
For the creation of the new brand identity, a new colour palette was also identified, which is repeated in all the Incubator's materials and media.
We chose
blue as the predominant colour, in order to assign it the task of narrating the
expertise, competence and solidity that distinguishes our company and the
staff. These values are supported by our twenty years of experience. We are a
concrete and reliable reality, but we necessarily leave room for
experimentation and growth, in technology and beyond, in an attempt to offer
ourselves as a playground for change, because otherwise, there would be no
innovation. So the new palette has also been enriched with fresh, young, bright
colours, such as fuchsia and various shades of blue. White also plays its part:
it is an active colour in our restyling, as it helps to convey transparency,
creativity, imagination and confidence. All messages for which I3P wants to be
the spokesperson for the future.
A new font
Have you noticed? We also have a new font. Or rather, a family of new fonts.
Bold,
emphatic, expressive, ideal for titles as well as for bodies of text. With this
font we want to convey assertiveness, but also modernity.
A New Claim
I3P's new claim is "Iniziamo l'impresa", which in English becomes "We startup the venture". It is no coincidence that we chose to use the first person plural of the verb, an element that emphasises the sense of shared commitment to the upcoming entrepreneurial venture, shared between the entrepreneur and the coaching team he or she is entrusted with. The statement reinforces the concept of community and is an invitation to embark firmly and enthusiastically on the path of innovative entrepreneurship, no less challenging than the other types.
Lots of news to come
The mission of the Incubator is always to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem, with the aim of generating economic development and employment in innovative industrial sectors. To date, we are working to make our platform and programme increasingly attentive to the needs of our target audience. Many new things are on the way and this anniversary will mark a year to remember!
