NASA Space Apps Challenge Turin 2020 – Virtual edition

We are happy to announce that for the 5th time, I3P will be the host of a local Space Apps' event! Considering Covid19, the 2020 edition will be an all-virtual hackathon which will take place in the same weekend worldwide. Join the competition and work on your project, prototype, or idea to respond to Space Apps' challenges!

Who can participate?

Everyone can take part in the competition, because every skill is useful in order to work on a project. Register to Space Apps if you are a space enthusiast, if you’re an engineer (or you're studying in order to become one), if you have communication, marketing skills or if you're looking for a chance to test yourself.

Join Turin event if you live in Turin, or in Turin area, and this is the nearest local event you can find available (check the map to be sure of that).

How can you join the competition?

Register to the event by signing up to the Space Apps platform, check your email to activate your account, and then select "Turin".

Register as an individual, then you will have the chance to form your team, if you already have one you can add your teammates to your team –they have to be all registered to the platform in order to do so. We suggest you create teams with 3 to 5 people (the limit however is 6) and with different skills in order to work on your project taking into account all the different aspects of it.

If you don't have a team already: don't worry! We will help you and make sure you can find someone as passionate as you on the challenge you want your project to respond to.

How does it work?

As the event will be an all-virtual hackathon, there will be plenary sessions (held in English), projects' hours (so you and your team can work on your idea in response to the challenge you will have previously selected), consultancy hours (during which tutors and mentors will help you find a way to present your project and resolve issues) and a final Pitch Session.

You will get access to resources in order to work on your project and support from tutors and mentors who will be available to answer your questions and doubts. Also, chat rooms will be open one week before the hackathon starts.

Check the schedule to know how the hackathon will take place.

What will winners win?

Two teams from the local Turin competition will be selected to get access to the global competition, so be sure to be able to make local judges understand how your project is the best.

The U.S. Diplomatic Mission will award two prizes of 500 euros each, which will be credited directly to the winners.

The CNS - Center for Near Space, will offer a prize of 400 euros,  “Il Futuro Prossimo Possibile”for the idea that will best interpret the Vision on the Cis-Lunar City.
